Disney planning 'High School Musical 4'

April 9, 2008 () - In a surprise move, Disney Channel President Rich Ross has announced plans for a sequel to High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
"We are writing 'High School Musical 4,' " he told Hollywood Reporter.
Shooting for High School Musical 3: Senior Year, which features Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman as High School Seniors, is scheduled to start on April 21.
The film will focus on Troy (Efron) and Gabriella (Hudgens) as they prepare to be separated from one another.
HSM 3 is the first film in the series planned for TV and theatrical release. It is not known if HSM 4 will follow the pattern.
Ross is tight lipped about the script of HSM 4 but promises it will be an exciting story.
"We have learned that just putting a number next to a title is a very old idea," Ross said. "We have to have a new story."
He is confident that some, if not all the cast, will feature in the planned sequel.
"Are we going to have all the cast back? Probably not," Ross told the Reporter. "Will we have some of them? I hope so."
